79Bike

79Bike Falcon GT jumping beside a brick warehouse

Two Falcons, both off-road, both still on the way in. Play-bike size, with their own motor, and brakes that people notice.

Pro or GT

Buy the Pro if you want the lighter bike. Ten kilowatts, 59 kg, 19-inch wheels at both ends, about 56 mph. The frame is Kenshi Black or Silver Metallic, and the graphics are purple, red or yellow, picked separately. 79Bike want the rider to be 18 or over. £3,199, on back-order.

Buy the GT if you want more motor and more brake. 16.8 kW, 69 kg with the battery in, a 19-inch front and an 18-inch rear, about 59 mph. Riders who’ve tested it keep saying it still feels flickable, which is the point of a bike this size, and the brakes are the part they come back to. White or black. £3,699, on back-order.

Neither has a clutch or a gearbox. Less to get wrong when the track gets rough. The phone is the key, via NFC. Both batteries are 72 volt. The Pro’s is the smaller LG pack, about three and a half hours to charge. The GT’s is a Samsung pack, three to four hours, and the headline range is much the same: the extra power is there to be used.

The Falcon Pro

This is the friendly one of the pair. Mid-mounted motor, a bit of engine braking when you roll off, Fastace forks and shock, and a seat at 830 mm. The dash is a proper size, there’s a neutral so it sits still when you park it, and the screen swaps between day and night on its own.

Seventy-five miles is the “if you ride it nicely” figure. Pinning it on a track will not get you seventy-five miles. Nothing in this class will.

The Falcon GT

Same layout, more shove, and the seat is a touch lower at 820 mm. The fork gains high-speed and low-speed adjustment, so you can set it up for who you are rather than who the factory imagined. The discs are bigger than the Pro’s. It carries a weather rating that covers rain and a wet trail. It is not a claim you can ride it through deep water.
